Code Compliance Certificate Completion in Auckland

For existing building consents that were never formally signed off — we find out what's outstanding and manage the work required to close it out.

Book a Consultation

A Code Compliance Certificate (CCC) is the final sign-off for building work completed under an existing consent. Once all required inspections have passed and documentation is in order, Auckland Council issues the CCC to confirm the work complies with the consent.

Many Auckland properties have consents that were issued years ago but never finished — often because an inspection was missed, documentation went missing, or the original builder didn't follow through. CodeCompliance picks up these unfinished consents and manages them through to completion.

How we complete your CCC

Review the existing consent, inspection history and council file to identify exactly what remains outstanding

Arrange any outstanding inspections and coordinate access with council inspectors

Engage licensed builders and trades to complete or correct any remaining work

Prepare and submit any missing documentation, producer statements or reports

Liaise directly with council until the CCC is issued

What's usually needed to close out a CCC

A copy of the original building consent and approved plans

Records of inspections already passed

Producer statements for any specialist trades (electrical, plumbing, gas fitting, structural)

Confirmation that all consented work has actually been completed on site

Every outstanding consent is different — some need a single missed inspection, others need remedial building work. Auckland Council makes the final decision on issuing the CCC; we manage the process and prepare the strongest case, but cannot guarantee a specific outcome or timeframe.

Common reasons a CCC remains outstanding

Most open consents we encounter were never a deliberate non-compliance — the CCC was simply never applied for. In our experience, the most frequent causes are:

A required final inspection was never booked after the work was finished

A trade certificate (electrical, plumbing, gas fitting) was not submitted to council before the builder left

The original building company folded or moved on before completing paperwork

Minor finishing work was left incomplete on site, stopping council from signing off

Plans were altered during construction and the amendments weren't lodged with council
